MULTI- MODALITY RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the departmental director, the technologist will assist in the coordination of the technical function of the Diagnostic Imaging Department on a daily basis. Assists in maintaining the Q.C. for the Imaging Department. As a staff radiographer, performs a variety of technical procedures that require rational independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in performing standard examinations in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital's customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.
% OF TIME POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
40% 1. The Radiographer independently performs diagnostic imaging procedures according to established protocols.
20% 2. The Radiographer maintains accurate patient records, documents and billing information.
20% 3. The Radiographer performs basic patient care duties within the departments.
10% 4. The Radiographer performs delegated functions as requested by the Department Director.
5% 5. The Radiographer accepts responsibility for maintaining licenses and improving their skills and knowledge.
5% 6. The Radiographer demonstrates knowledge and skill in meeting age related needs for the neonate to adolescent, geriatric, mentally ill and handicapped patient's needs.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
A.R.R.T. (M.R.T.) With two or more years of multi-modality experience. Supervisory experience desired. Current state license. Must have CPR.
Working Conditions Work environment which has temperature variances based on the needs of the patient and/or equipment. Lighting may range from dark to bright. Sounds can range from a whisper of a patient to raised voices delivering instructions, to the constant electrical background noise of radiographic equipment. Works with and around hazardous materials, including radiation and other hazardous materials. SDS available. Required to wear personal protective equipment as needed.
Work Schedule Includes working rotational shifts, holidays and weekends as needed. May have the opportunity to participate in on call basis staffing. Technologist(s) should respond to STAT cases within 15 minutes. Technologists who are not within the immediate area are to give the requesting department a reasonable expected time of arrival.
Response time to nonemergency cases will be mutually agreed upon between the technologist and requesting department.
Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and hospital census. During low census and/or patient procedure load it may be required that days be taken off without pay.
Physical Abilities Will be scheduled to work shifts from 4 to 16 hours. The following is based on an average 8 hour shift. Sitting - less than 2 hours per shift and standing/walking for the balance of the shift. Will be required to bend/stoop, squat, climb and kneel during above shoulder level, push and/or pull equipment and/or patients. Carrying of procedure related supplies and cassettes necessitates that one must be able to lift 40 pounds. Lifting and assisting in lifting of patients, supplies and equipment may be required. Accurate vision with ability to adapt from light to dark rapidly. Hearing capability ranging from understanding whispered command to withstanding loud equipment noises.
